     Are FBCC’s Classic Tapers dripless?

Yes!  The key to this answer are burning conditions!  We use the drawn method, then dip our tapers, by hand, in a glossy finishing wax, which produces a hard shell.  This outer layer does not melt as fast as the core, allowing a well to develop, which holds in the melted wax.  Proper burning conditions will prevent the outer coating from weakening and, in turn, from dripping.

It is important to trim wicks to a 1/4" before lighting.  Keep tapers away from drafts, which might blow the flame sideways.  Also, always burn tapers some distance apart from each other, so that heat is not transferred.  Lastly, keep tapers standing straight, in their candlestick holders, so wax does not spill over their edges. Check out our Tips, Care & Safety page for more details.

Why do some candles give off smoke?

Once again, the key to this answer is proper burning conditions.  Always trim wicks to a 1/4" before lighting your tapers.  If a high flame or smoking is noted during a burn, then extinguish the candle, trim the wick again to 1/4" and relight.

Drafts can also be an important factor, as they can cause a candle to burn unevenly exposing more wick than necessary.  Remember, air vents, open windows and overhead fans all create air currents that will cause the flame to smoke.

What causes a candle to burn unevenly?

Drafts are the number one culprit, as they cause the flame to burn to one side. Other reasons could be that the holder is not resting on a level surface or the wick is not centered and straight.

Why are there not burning instructions or labels on every FBCC candle?

Each style of candle requires certain special handling to ensure your safety and to enhance the enjoyment of your candle burning experience.  For example, votive candles should always be burned IN a votive cup,  pillar candles ON a plate or pillar holder, discontinue burning when 1/2" of un-melted wax remains to avoid breakage - all important information.  Always take time to read the important burning instructions that come with some of our candles before use.

We have always been conscious of our impact on the environment.  This is something we are passionate about and we strive to find new ways to reduce our footprint all the time. Recently, we have discontinued labeling each separate pair of tapers and we are also not labeling our Pillars anymore, rather we are including a small burning instructions card instead.  Visit our Tips, Care & Safety page for more detailed help on the burning and care of candles.

How can I find additional information about the ingredients of each candle?
